Question:

What happens if I change the 'Timesheet start date' after timesheets are already in use?

Answer:

If you reset the Timesheet start date to an earlier date, users will be able to enter or amend timesheets only as far back as that new start date. They will not be able to make changes to or submit timesheets dated earlier than the configured Timesheet Start Date.

It is not generally recommended to change this date once timesheets are in use and users have begun submitting.

You should be aware of the following implications:

  • The Timesheet start date should only be set to the first day of the month.

  • If you already have closed financial months (for example, the last lock being 31 March 2026), any timesheets that are completed or amended for dates before the locked period will still be accepted, but the actuals will be posted into the next open financial month.

  • If the timesheet start date is moved forward, managers will still receive reminders for timesheets that were submitted before the new Timesheet start date, and they will still be able to approve those submitted timesheets, even if they fall prior to the updated start date.
